“Celebrating The Life Of My Friend. 'Charlie!', That's How I Used To Call You And You Would Respond 'SMB!', Smiling. This I Cannot Enjoy Any Longer Because You Have Left Us. This I Cannot Enjoy Any Longer Because You Have Left Us. When We Met In 1959 At The Methodist Boys High School Broad Street Lagos, Little Did We Know That This Friendship Would Last For 65 Years. You Came From England As A Lad Of 14 Years To Join Us. You Spoke English Like Our Teacher Mr. Vale And One Day He Replied "Don't Be Silly" To Our Teacher (an English Man). We Were All Shocked And Thought He Would Be Expelled That Day But Alas Nothing Happened And He Earned Our Respect. Several Years Later Charlie Joined The Engineering Corps Of The Nigerian Army And Retired As A Major. He Maintained This Discipline And Related With Us By Showing Us His Strength In His Handshake To Which Some Of Us Simply Smiled And Refused To Shake Him. Charlie Was A Jolly Good Fellow, Disciplined, Honest And Totally Reliable. He Would Go Out Of His Way To Help A Friend In Any Way Possible. He Was A Gentleman To The Core. Charlie Was A Family Man And Loved His Family Like A Good Christian. He Has Gone To His Maker And Is Resting In The Bosom Of The Lord. He Will Be Missed. May His Soul Rest In Perfect Peace. Amen.”

“Today, I Recall The Very First Day I Met You, 22nd Dec. 1995. I Had Come To Drop Adesola Off At Obanikoro. She Was Just A Casual Friend Back Then. I Won't Forget Your Parting Words As I Hurried Away. "I Hope To See More Of You." Those Words Were Fulfilled As We Not Only Saw For The Following 29 Years. I Was Honoured To Be Your Son In Law. I Was Honoured To Be Your Son In Law. You Were An Exceptional Man. Even At Half Your Age, It Was A Challenge Keeping Up With Your Agility And Dress Sense. Always Looking Effortlessly Perfect Like A True Soldier. You Stood By Us In The Very Challenging Years Of Starting Marthas. You Were Full Of Ideas Of How We Could Do Things Better. You Were So Full Of Life, And There Was Never A Dull Moment With You. I Particularly Admired The Courage With Which You Faced The Very Challenging Last 2 Years. You Fought And Triumphed Over The Onslaught Against Your Body. Despite The Restrictions, You Still Maintained A Cheerful Look. Your Joy In The Midst Of Pain Was Contagious.Daddy, You Were A Great Man, And We Celebrate You”

“Baba Oakatson Iives On. Today, We Gather With Heavy Hearts To Honor And Remember A Truly Remarkable Man, My Father-in-law. His Humor Was A Gift That Brightened Our Lives, Making Every Moment Spent With Him A Joyful One. Losing Him Has Left An Irreplaceable Void, Made Even More Poignant As We Approach What Would Have Been His 80th Birthday Next Year. It’s Painful To Think Of Celebrating Such A Milestone Without Him, But We Find Solace In The Memories And The Love He Shared So Freely. Though He Is No Longer With Us In Body, His Spirit, His Laughter, And His Kindness Will Live On In Our Hearts. We Are Grateful For The Time We Had With Him And Will Continue To Celebrate His Life, Cherishing The Legacy He Left Behind. Rest In Peace, Dear 'Baba Oakatson' You Are Deeply Missed, But Forever Remembered With Love. Oyeronke Adenugba Daughter In Law”

I Was Staying With An Extended Family Member Until Fate Happened And I Was To Become Homeless. God Apparently Had Arranged It All And Somehow, Sola Whom I Had Met At Grace Family Church, Ibadan Through A Bosom Friend Became My Life-saver. She Told Her Parents About My Situation And I Transitioned From Being A Guest Who Came In To Visit When Sola Was Around From Ibadan To A Resident Member Of The Adenugba Family For Quite A Few Years. The Adenugbas Took Me In Without Any Reservation Whatsoever And Without Meeting My Parents; I Was So Amazed And Remain Ever So Grateful. The Adenugbas Had A True Christian Home And I Recall The Times Of Family Prayer Led By Daddy Who Was Never In A Hurry, Regardless Of Our Grumblings And Preference To Have Shorter Family Altar Sessions. Daddy Loved Singing And We Sang Lots Of Hymns. He And His Beloved Wife Were Wonderful Christians And They Allowed Their Children Love & Worship God Their Own Way. Daddy Was A Simple, Jovial, Playful, Easy-going &.generous Gentleman Who Treasured His Integrity And Loved His God. He Had No Airs Around Him And Was Very Accommodating, Holding No Grudges. Rather, He Spoke His Mind And Moved On. He Was Firm And Principled And A Few Times Appeared Unyielding, But That Was Only Due To Differences In Perspective And His Dream For His Children To Succeed. He Loved His Wife & Children Dearly And That Love Overflowed To Me. Daddy Was Hardworking And I Had The Privilege Of Visiting Him At Work With Sola A Few Times. He Had A Good Relationship And A Good Reputation With His Staff And Neighbours At Work. I Would Not Forget How Daddy Used To Clean And Polish His Shoes Like An Old Soldier, Iron His Clothes And Look Sharp Every Morning. He Was A Dresser, A Fine Dude! Allowing A "stranger" Introduced By Your Daughter Live With You, Especially When That Daughter Was Not Resident, Spoke A Lot About Daddy & Mummy Adenugba's Deposit Of Christian Values In Their Children, Their Confidence In Their Children's Decision-making Abilities And Their Genuine Christianity. I Could Go On And On Reliving Memories But Time And Space Will Not Permit This. Daddy, Thank You For Your Love And Acceptance. Thank You For Coming All The Way To Ibadan With Mummy For My Dad's Funeral. Thank You For Loving My Husband And Children. Thank You For Being A Father Indeed. May Your Kind And Beautiful Soul Continue To Rest In Peace And May God Keep Mummy And Your Jewels Whom Your Loved Dearly. See You In Glory Daddy; Engr. Charles Adenugba! Bolaji Olunuga-Akinyera”

Daddy Was A Pillar To Be Reckoned With In Society And Among His Peers. He Was Known For Being Disciplined As A Retired Military Veteran Yet Kind. He Loved Young People And Dreamt Of Welcoming All Of Us And Our Kids Into His Home At Oko-oba, But God Had Other Plans And No One Can Question God’s Plans/ways. May The Family He Left Behind Be Strengthened And Comforted In The Knowledge That Daddy Is Taking A Well Deserved Rest In The Bosom Of The Lord Jesus Christ. “Our Late Friend Charles Adeoye Adenugba Was Simply Referred To As Charles But I Used To Call Him Deoye. Deoye Had Something In Common With A.M.A. (Augustus Meredith Adisa Akinloye, A First And Second Republic Politician) That Is, He Was Always Mentally Alert (A.M.A.) And Humorous. He Was Always Up To The Pranks Of His Classmates And Would Treat Individuals In Special Ways He Considered They Deserved. Indeed He Was A Fine Gentleman. A Classmate Posted On Our Platform When Deoye' S Demise Had Been Announced That We Have Lost A Rare Gem And Because I Did Not Want To Repeat What Someone Else Had Said, I Remarked That We Have Lost A Gentleman In Our Group. You Just Cannot Deny Him That Fact. It Was Very Obvious. It Is One Of The Norms Of MBHS 5963 (the Group Deoye Belonged To) To Allow A .member Who Comes In After The Commencement Of A Meeting To Go Round Greeting Other Members One By One. On Such An Occasion Deoye Would Give Me A Bone Crusher Handshake (shaking My Hand Very Tightly) To Show Me He Was Much Stronger. He Was Humorous. About Two Years Ago, At A Classmate's 80th Birthday Celebration, Deoye Attended In Company Of His Wife, and As He Was Making His Way Into Our Group, He Was Singing And So To Pull His Legs, I Asked The Wife If He Used To Sing At Home Like That. Realizing, I Wanted To Tease Him, He Made A Move As If He Wanted To Strike Me ( O Pakuru Mo Mi) And That Was How He Prevented The Wife From Answering My Question. He Was Always Mentally Alert. We Can Go On And On, But This Tribute Will Not Be Complete Without Giving This Testimony About Our Friend, Late Charles Adeoye Adenugba. He Was A Devout Christian. He Followed The Footstep Of Joshua ( Joshua 24:15) "As For My Family And Me, We Will Serve The Lord". With His Resources, Time And Money He Served The Lord. Now That You Are With The Lord, You'll Be In Our Hearts For Ever. Rest In Peace. Amen.”

Here On Earth, We Mourned The Loss Of A Beloved Father, While Heaven Rejoiced For Gaining A Beloved Son. I Will Miss You Daddy, I Will Miss Your Warmth, Your Smile And The Way You And Mummy Would Playfully Fight Over Who Would Seat Next To Me And Bolu Whenever We Visited Nigeria.
